HOLLAND LDET Championship: 4th June

AMSTERDAM OLD COURSE: Close to Amsterdam Centre, since 1935 Amsterdam Old Course is one of the oldest Dutch golfcourses (9 holes) with a historic clubhouse. Previously, surrounded by meadows, is now a rustic oasis at the foot of the Amsterdam Arena (AFC Ajax).
The course was built in 1934 on ground owned by the Dutch Railways (NS). It was opened in 1935 and is 2.40m. below sea level. The characteristic club house dates from 1935 and designed by the well-known Amsterdam architect FA Warners.

The Old Course is one of eight courses in the Netherlands designed by Harry Colt (from the famous architects Colt, Alison & Morrison). The course is home to the Amsterdam Old Course Club (AOC) since 1990.

The course has changed a lot since 1934. The makeover in 1984 was the biggest change. The NS wanted to carry out its plans for a new railway embankment and a railway station. Of the 18 holes 9 holes had to be shut down. The survival of the club was again uncertain when the railway decided to build the Utrechtboog, which was to connect Schiphol and Utrecht by rail. Amsterdam Old Course was allowed to stay at its current location. During construction, the track was shortened, but the members could continue. Upon completion of the Utrechtboog, in 2005, the course has been renovated and adapted by architect Frank Pont. The renovation was finished in 2007.

Meanwhile, in 2014 and 2015, plans are being carried out for the renovation of peat soil replaced by high-quality sand. Following these improvements, carried out by architect Frank Pont the Amsterdam Old Course will feature a very attractive course that will be playable throughout the year.
