Williams Racing Golf new sponsor of the  Long Drivers European Tour 2016

22nd February 2016, Barcelona.- Long Drivers European Tour (LDET) and Williams Racing Golf (WRG) have signed a sponsorship agreement whereby the clubs and golf accessories brand becomes one of the main sponsors of the 2016 circuit. Williams will provide the tour and the players the benefits related to the design and technology that has made Williams F1 one of the most successful teams in Formula One.

Speed and show in the DNA

With the combination of both companies, the LDET and Williams are naturally associated in the DNA because the long drivers and Williams drivers technology are focusing to get the maximum speed, control, power and performance. "We are really proud that a brand like Williams Racing Golf has joined us for the 2016. If the season is already very spectacular, this will give a plus: the brand will provide a professional service to the tour players and bring their products to the spectators at the events." said Xavier Eusebio, Director and founder of LDET.

Ricardo Galí, CEO of WRG, thinks that “tour fits perfectly on what we are experts for over 38 years in Formula 1. Rubber, titanium, carbon fibre, aerodynamics… this is our daily bible in Formula 1, and is exactly what a golfer needs when driving a club”. The brand is revolutionizing the drivers’ golf market because the complexity of its design and the rigor of its manufacturing make them different from the other brands already consolidated. “Most of the industry focuses their differentiation on look. We don’t, we focus our differentiation on performance. And then the cost of the individual head turns into very expensive. But once you hit it, you immediately realise it is another kind of beast”, says Galí.

More distance

The LDET will start next 8th and 9th April at the “Home of Golf”, Scotland, where the hitters will have the first event. Williams will be regularly present in some tournaments to assist the long drivers in their competitions.

WRG is already doing some tests to improve distance and the hit of the hitters. Currently, the players need to have a low spin when they hit the ball and therefore they use low loft drivers causing instability and difficulty to get straight shots. With the MR Williams driver, thanks to its aerodynamic generates less spin and better ball flights. “Those guys can improve their distance in a very significant way, and also the balls put in play due to straighter shots. That sets lost by a stronger player due to 6 balls out of bounds will happen a lot less with the MR”, explains Ricardo Galí.

Williams Racing Golf will also sponsor the "Longest Ball of the Day", awarding the player with the longest drive in each tournament. The prize will be a Williams Golf Bag.

10 championships, 10 countries
