ROAD TO NEW ZEALAND

June 13th 2016 – BARCELONA. – The Long Drivers European Tour (LDET) will celebrate the last tournament of the season in New Zealand where the top-8 ranked hitters of the Tour will compete to know the Long Drive Champion in Europe. The LDET Tour goes abroad for the first time of the tour and the LDET Road to New Zealand 2016 will take place next 5th and 6th of November at the Remuera Golf Club, in Auckland, the country’s largest city.

Beyond Europe

The LDET Tour makes a big step forward to bring the circuit beyond the borders of Europe and has decided to celebrate the Big Final of the current season in New Zealand, a country that is committed to receive the tour and the players with open arms. For Xavier Eusebio, CEO and Founder of the LDET Tour, this last event “is a great challenge for the circuit in which we are working very hard. It will be the first time in the history that the circuit will have a tournament outside the European continent. The New Zealanders fans will have the opportunity to watch the best players of the tour in a spectacular final championship”.

Exiting Big Final event

On Saturday 5th of November 2016 there will some demos and clinics with the LDET hitters and local players that will have the chance to hit alongside the best long drivers involved in the only world league of this sport.

On Sunday 6th we will enjoy the Big Final with the performance of the best eight players ranked in the tour to decide the Long Driver European Champion of the season. Undeniably, the hitters traveling to New Zealand will be the best 8 just after the Portugal LDET Championship (September) and will be the real stars of the last great final.

Remuera Golf Club has been chosen as the venue for the final event. It is one of New Zealand’s premier golf courses with a history of more than 75 years. Chris Davies, the Manager of RGC, explains that “the Final of the Long Drivers European Tour is a very exciting new addition to our schedule and the first such event hosted in this part of the world.  It will be a major attraction for the wider Auckland golfing community and the city itself”. Remuera has hosted a number of premier golfing tournaments, including the last two New Zealand PGA Championships.  All the details of the Big Final will be announced very soon.

Local partner

This final event is possible thanks to unwavering support of our local partner Iganz Events. Olna Ford is the enthusiastic director of the company and says “we are honoured and truly excited about being the local LDET promoter for the final event. The Long Drivers European Tour opens up the opportunity to promote the sport of Long Drive effectively in the pacific region and the events surrounding this dynamic sport”. Being the host country is a great opportunity for New Zealand because “the economic impact with these types of media activities increases inbound tourism, new business opportunities for events surrounding the sport and players, increased media exposure both locally and internationally. These all benefit the sport, events, players and sponsors”, adds Ford.
