VISIT LAGO DI GARDA
Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy, is a year-round tourist destination suitable for all tastes. The exceptionally mild climate of this lake, set between the Alps and the plain, makes it an extremely pleasant Mediterranean area, dotted with beaches, historic villas, gardens and olive groves: an area that enchanted many visitors from England and other European countries when travelling through Italy.
Travelling nowadays is much easier and no longer the prerogative of the chosen few. Lake Garda still retains its fascination and is now perfectly equipped to host its guests, with 61 thousand beds available in 1.100 hotels, plus another 100 thousand beds in other accommodation facilities. Every year millions of tourists, two thirds of whom are foreigners, choose a location on Lake Garda for a total of over 20 million overnight stays.
Garda offers many attractions for visitors from all over Europe: relaxation, sports activities, well-being, cultural sights and monuments, food and wine, and that touch of ‘Italian style’ – fashion, boutiques, hospitality, historical appeal – that makes every holiday in Italy unforgettable. It is impossible to name all the activities practised along the 145 kilometres of the lakeshores and in the mountains crowning it in the north, suffice it to say there are an endless number of opportunities for walking, mountain biking, windsurfing, sailing, golf and free climbing. Then you can discover traces of history in the Roman remains and splendid medieval and Renaissance villages on the shores of the lake, or in the nearby cities of Verona, Mantova, Brescia and Trento.
The three regions overlooking Garda, Veneto, Lombardy and Trentino, are united under one brand: the visual identity is a commitment to make every holiday on Lake Garda – regardless of the location chosen – a unique experience of natural settings, artistic discoveries, flavours of local specialities, aromas of excellent wine, with the added pleasure of sport, the delight of basking in the sun and the thrill of diving into crystal clear waters.
In particular Lago di Garda – Lombardia is a tourism consortium in charge of the promotion of several towns on the south-western shore of Lake Garda from the paeninsula of Sirmione to Limone sul Garda. The tourism offer of this marvellous area, where the Mediterranean vegetation blends in a unique way with the mountainous landscape, is complete and diversified: visitors can find relaxation, wellness, culture and art, sports, and superb food and wine in more than 450 accommodations (historical villas, hotels with 2 to 5 star ratings, residences, apartments, camping grounds, farm holiday establishments and B&Bs) and restaurants that are ready to satisfy any need.
