Allen wins the Belgium LDET and records a bomb of 423 yards
July 4th 2015 – MONS (Belgium). Maurice Allen, an American player of the Volvik LDET, won the Belgium LDET Championship beating Frederik Frost with a best hit of 411 yards after playing two sets in the final. In the fourth tournament of the season, held at the Mont Garni Golf Club, in Baudour, we registered the record of the longest ball since the circuit exists: 423 yards.
Record bombs
A heat wave has settled in Europe these days: good news for the long drivers. Hot weather and favourable wind improve the physical conditions of the hitters and their ball speed. Records obtained in the tournament were a proof of that. In group 1, Scott Beaven (ENG) has led the way with bombs all over 400 yards, getting a blast of 416. But that was not the best score. The American Maurice Allen got an absolute record: 423 yards in the Quarters. It is the best hit since the existence of Volvik LDET circuit and the longest ball of the day, awarded with Mutant Brute driver.
The Belgium national team of Long Drivers, who has participated in the tournament, also shown a high level. Two of their four players have passed the group stages with big shots: Quentin de Valensart (372) and Gael Segmuller (378y). Other big names in the circuit have been added to the show of strength and power: Timo Petrasch (GER, 389y), Dewald Lubbe (SA, 390y) Frederik Frost (DEN, 378y), and Dan Konyk (ENG, 386y). You can see all the results of the qualifying groups in the attached files.
Just two sets to decide the champion
The spectators of Mont Garni Golf Club enjoyed the exciting match plays, quarters and semis thanks to the sensational performances of the best long drivers in and outside Europe. Allen has played all the finals this season and, after wining the first and lost second and third, he wanted the Belgium trophy. The Danish Frost played his first final and made a great tournament but his effort was not enough to knock Allen. The American triumphed over him with a best hit of 411 yards and stays at the first place of the Volvik LDET ranking.
Holland, next stop…
The fifth stop of the Volvik LDET circuit will be the Holland LDET Championship which will be the first time for this country and will take place next 17th and 18th July at the Amsterdam Old Course near the capital, Amsterdam. See you there long drivers!
